The Long Harbor Testament - A New Audio Book

Updated: Jun 28, 2020

I’m happy to announce my latest audio book is now available. “The Long Harbor Testament” is about a parish priest with a gambling problem, his secret girlfriend, and brother who just killed his bookie. The more or less accidental killing happens early on, and the cover-up and attempts to use a clever fake alibi make up the rest of the story. There’s plenty of down to earth, relatable dialog, and good humor to go along with some much darker scenes.

This is my seventh book, and was one of the most fun to narrate. The characters are well rounded, and getting to interpret and act out a variety of people is probably the best part of the whole process. There are a lot of choices to be made, especially when you have two brothers close in age, and need to ensure that it’s obvious whom is speaking. This is why the reading the book and doing prep work before uttering even a single word is crucial. Once you know the outcome of these characters, it’s then possible to decide which brother might have a lighter tone, or perhaps have a more clipped touch to his voice.

Everyone listens to books differently. I’ve talked to some avid listeners who say they don’t care if there’s little to no change in the narrator’s voice throughout a book. But most enjoy a little “flavor”, as long as it’s not too over the top. Regardless, we’re responsible for making an author’s vision come to life, and I take great care with each book.
